i enjoyed this site. it was good revealing everything to help our people out. getting to the heart of desi parties and clubs, activities like drinking, drugs, dating, conventions, and all. i hope it works out for the best. more people need to get informed and do something to help. i hope more parents and youth come together and people change their lives around. i have faith that this site will break the rumors and lies and problems and come out with truth and good. peace

this is heavy info here
i never saw anyone talk in detail like this & it's real good that now it's happening
i go to clubs to unwind
i dont do all that stuff, get buzzed and drunk & act like a fool
i think it's time to face the reality and see what's going on
ya need to think twice before doing stuff
it can bring you and your whole family down
it's wise to stay smart and humble
try to be responsible and try to do the right things
it pays off!!

You can't force your kids to do everything you like them to do or watch them everytime. Being a parents is the hardest job, but if a parent that ignores dangerous situations or concerns for their children. You are making a huge risk to lose them in someway or make them destroy their lives. Our children are precious, we should try our very best to help. understand, and build a good future. It's their choice whether to take your advice or not, let's hope many will try to do their best & make right choices. So parents out their just don't ignore. Educate and rise to any challeneges.

everyone is responsible

Dear Dr. Mehta,

I just read your article and it amazes me how much i can relate to it. I am a first generation born american. my parents have been in this country for almost 21 years. I am going into my second year of college and will be turning 20 soon. But what it really feels like is that i'm turning 12. Reading your article made me aware that so many other indian kids go through the same things. And i wasn't the only one going through this alone. Thanks.

From Samir Shah, San Diego CA

Dear Dr. Vijay Mehta,

My name is Samir Shah and Im a senior in high school living in San Diego,
CA. I read your article on the struggle of the Desi culture and after
reading it I really understood the reasons on why my parents are the way
they are today. I think this article clearly explains on how desi parents
are so harsh on preserving their culture and I think every Desi teenager
should read this. Before reading this article ,I despised the differences I
felt between my parents, and now I have come to understanding in our
different points of view. But now I totaly understand the saying my dad has
been drilling into my head, "if you lose your culture, you lose your
identity." The hard part I have realized is clearing the different values
which often cause dispute between my dad and I, still it is hard for him to
condescend to my level so we can level out the differences. I gave him a
link about your article and he disregarded it when it started talking about
desi and sex..pretty typical of him...

Vijay Uncle,

May God bless you with strength and guidance. You've been an inspiration. We, Telugu Desi and everyone else....lacked this guidance growing up. That is why I am still the true to date ABCD....searching, single, 33 and confused in my years. I want to thank you for being there for our youth and being a guide and counseling these kids. I am a product of what they may be going through. Alone, lost, confused, unmarried BUT smart, educated and grateful for what my parents have done. I don't want that to happen to our youth and if you need help....I will help. May GOD bless you.......and thank you from the deepest part of my soul for your voice and expression without hesitation.

Affectionately,

Anu

this mr. mehta,
i am concerned about the issues you have talked about. i have seen a site that mentions many of the things you have talked about. youth talking online and such. i feel disappointed that many arent realizing what goes on today, i am very grateful you are changing that to make the society educated. thank you. i hope you will check out this site and get alot of these kids who are on it to talk talking and realizing. they are located in usa, canada, europe, australia and over the world. i think you may get even people from other nations to collaborate with you. this is a suggestion but please mr. mehta look into the site. thank you for your service. i am glad there are people like you. Bless You!

Subject: Hello
Message: I don't know if you rememeber me, but my name is
Devesh Patel from Fresno California, I met you at
SASA, at the club on saturday. Anyways I thought
your friendster name was Vijay KAKA, so i tried to
spell VJ kaka, vijay kaka, or even vejay kaka, but
nothing would come up. Anyways I just wanted to
tell you that everything you said in your speech
was real, it's good to know that we actually have a
desi adult on our side that can relate to the way
we think and go through. I have never came across
anyone like you before. It seems like all the other
parents follow the same path that they grew up
going on, with no thought to change directions, but
I really appreciate the fact that you are not typical
in that sense. I wanted to let you know that if there
is anything I can do, let me know and I will try to
help you out in any way. Anyways I have a long
day of school ad work, so Im off to bed. Ill talk to
you later, Thanks again

Dear sir, I recently read your article on desi culture in America and
I have to tell you as a member of the American Born Cute Desi's that
your observations are scarily spot on. I have been able to articulate
to my parents precisely what growing up in America felt like but I
think having them read your article would really explain it. You must
keep writing it. Its so insightful.
Respectfully, Shivani Seth
