xx How did the evening go ???
« Thread started on: Aug 26th, 2004, 05:26am »

Seminars by Dr, Vijay Mehta:

Confused Desi, who is really confused Parents or Chrildren? Vijay Mehta systematically presented the plight of desi children as they grow up in Western enviornment. Desi children become adept at living double life.

Parents on the other hand do not understand why so many of our children engage in destructive behavior. The seminar presented practical steps that parent and youth can take to bridge the gap.

There was a great turn out for the evening. Many of the college students drove from long distance to be the part of the evening. At the end of seminar they were ready to go to next step of "breaking the wall" and start the process of empowerment of kids as well as parents. Please let us know if you would like to attend the future meetings for the purpose.

Music

" Babra & Party - a popular music group that is touring USA this fall gave their first (Pratham) performance this year in Temple. The vocalists Babulal Babra and Archna Goswami mesmerized the audience with their melodius filmi songs in the first half. then, Yogi patel, President of Pratham USA, made an inspiring presentation about Prtaham's mission of educating India's poor children. Dr. Vijay Mehta made an appeal to support Pratham to which the audience responded very generously. A Vote of Thanks was proposed by Vinod Patel, ex-President of Gujarati Samaj of Houston. The rest of the evening was filled with Garaba and Raas as the Babra & Party performed until the midnight"
Community of Central Texas is grateful to Babra and Party for donating their superb talents to a good cause such as Pratham!

xx 10,622 Dollars for Pratham from Central Texas
« Reply #1 on: Sep 12th, 2004, 09:11am »

The small community of Temple, Waco, Killeen and Copperas Cove opened their hearts and pocket books to support the education of poor children in India. "Pratham touched our hearts," said one donor. Total amount raised in one evening at the present time is more than Ten Thousand Dollars. This is on top of more than Seven Thousand Dollars raised a year ago ago!

We would like to challenge all other communities to match our passion and let us win the war against illiteracy! There is no controversy, the illiteracy is the weapon of mass destructions!!! wink

Please show your support.
