The message below was meant to be sent to all the JNF participants three weeks in advance so they can gear up for successful JNF. However, it was never forwarded to them. Editorial privileges of the board - I guess they must have felt it was their job. ~Vijay Uncle
Message to all the JNF Participants:
The much anticipated convention is only few days away. Are you ready for an entertaining – enlightening and uplifting weekend? We look forwarding to seeing you.
As the part of YJA – Jaina Networking Forum (JNF) will be addressing the needs of those who are in marriageable age. And I have volunteered this year to give you a wake up call with the hope that few of you will leave for home and get on the mission. I am scheduled to speak on Saturday 2 PM. It seems that the capacity of the room won’t allow more than 80 participants to listen to my presentation. I will try to record it and post it on the podcast for those who wish to listen.
For past several years I have made this a mission to assist anyone who is negotiating the tough road to find the soul mate. I am keenly aware of the difficulties faced by your generation as when you engage in the search for your future spouses.
The problem is that you are playing this game with no rules, no referees and no time limit. Your ‘do it your-self approach’ assisted by Barbaadi.com etc has left many of you bruised and some of you are frustrated. Many of you are now jealous of your parents’ generation when there was what they called arranged marriages (you called them deranged marriages!)
A subset of the attendees are what I would call “non-shoppers” their parents may get all excited in the anticipated good news but they have no intention to make any commitment at this point in their life. By going to JNF or barbaadi.com they can make a case to the parents that they indeed are looking.
The next group is “the window shoppers.” These are the people who go to various events and sites with a feeling that may be they will find some one perfect and rest will follow.
Of course some of you are what can be better described as the “comparison shoppers” these are the people who are already dating someone who is somewhat acceptable but not quite perfect to move to the next stage. They go to various events and sites without telling the other person. Their prospect may think that YJA is biennial refresher course on Jainism!
These attendees – non-shoppers, window shoppers and comparison shoppers by and large have a great time. There is no pressure. If something clicks than fine otherwise there will be another convention in 2012!
There is another category of the JNF participants. They have been ready to find the mate and move on. They have seriously gone with anyone suitable set up by friends and family. They regularly surfed various website with activity rating nearly hundred percent. The convention cannot come soon enough for them. This is their opportunity to meet largest number of eligible vegetarians. They have been at the game for sometime and now waking up to the reality that matchmaking is a difficult process. They have their own sad stories to share. This group is what I call “Seriously Looking.” This is the group I am really focused on assisting. If you or any one you know is in that category please fill free to contact me at email@example.com. Those who are seriously looking should make every effort to connect with others as soon as possible before coming to the convention.
If you are seriously looking
