As posted here more than 30 people from Temple area drove 70 miles to south Austin on a weekday evening to see this play. Considering it was on Monday evening a sizable crowd was a tribute to Ambubhai Patel and his group for marketing it well. Most of us were impressed with the fact that this drama ran for 25 years - must be good if people saw it for that long. However, if Mugal-E-Azam ran for 5 years back in seventies does not mean it would be running even half as long now.

Frankly, I was totally disappointed and felt bad for getting everyone so excited about this play. The story might have resonated 30 years ago but seem to be out of date now. It did not have much of entertaining value. Many of the audience were so bored that they were having their own funny session in the back. They kept laughing at the jokes that were not from the stage.

I caution anyone who races to see this play based on hype. Like Cramer would say it, "Don't Go - Don't Go -Don't Go" Stay home and spend some quality time with your loved ones.

Having seen more than 100 play either on live show or on good quality DVD I give this play low ranking.

Just my opinion. Would love to hear from others. ~Vijay Mehta

Dear Vijay bhai,

I appreciate your opinion. But can you elaborate on the reasons? Just an academic excercise. huh

Here are some of the reasons:
Most of us were impressed with the fact that this drama ran for 25 years - must be good if people saw it for that long. However, if Mugal-E-Azam ran for 5 years back in seventies does not mean it would be running even half as long now.
The story might have resonated 30 years ago but seem to be out of date now.
Actually the the doctor should lose a license if he emotionally got involved with the patient.
All those big psychiatric diagnosis they were using was incorrect.
The story line was weak and it was hard to keep everyone plugged in.
I do not think any one left the auditorium and called friends or relatives across the US to tell them to go watch this play.
It did not have much of entertaining value it was a relief when it was over!
Having seen more than 100 play either on live show or on good quality DVD I give this play low ranking.
I caution anyone who races to see this play based on hype. Like Cramer would say it, "Don't Go - Don't Go -Don't Go" Stay home and spend some quality time with your loved ones.
